ABOUT THE BACK ROOM

Concealed behind a large wooden door at the end of Mason’s courtyard, a short flight of stairs gives way to The Back Room – a discrete, low-lit lounge space and inner-city style bar; perfect for post-dinner drinks or for dancing well into the early hours.Fitted out with its leather booths, low lighting and rotating modern art installations, the mood of The Back Room has been made to mirror that of a modern metropolis; allowing guests to be whisked away from life on a tropical island and toward that of a late night city.

As industrial as it is inviting, the concrete-style interiors have also been warmed through shades of cabernet-red and crimson to create a space that feels at once minimal and refined. While on weekdays, the atmosphere at The Back Room is relaxed and intimate; DJ’s spinning beats on the weekend transform the venue into a heaving, destination lounge space – attracting guests from across the island in search of a late-night party.

Curated by multi-award winning Bar Director Zac de Git, the drinks list at The Back Room is nothing short of extraordinary. Bringing his strong knowledge of the classics to the menu, expect to sip on a rotating selection of perfectly crafted cocktails that strike just the right balance between flavour, technique and showmanship.“When it comes to creating a great cocktail menu, people often forget that there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. You need to pay attention to the details and bring a strong knowledge of the classics, making sure the balance is right and knowing your ingredients properly” — Zac de Git. Drawing inspiration from the people, places and unique flavours found along his travels, the drinks list features inventive takes on key archetypes such as the fizz, milk punch and sour. From recent creations like the Bamboo Sour with smoked bamboo shoot mancino, lemon and pineapple rum to the The Back Room with a View with gin, dry vermouth, campari, raspberry shrub and soda, the evolving and ever creative menu has been made to please even the most discerning of bon vivants.
